Abstract

The subject of this study is new information and communication technologies and multiliteracies in a classroom in youth and adult education: the use of the WhatsApp application in the acquisition of reading and writing. One of the main objectives is to research how to alphabetize and literate through multiliteracies and NTIC'S using WhatsApp as an auxiliary tool, thus relating the learning and literacy process with the new information and communication technologies communication that are present in the daily lives of students. To answer the question: Considering literacy in youth and adult education, is it feasible to use WhatsApp as an auxiliary tool for the practice that relates it to multiliteracies in learning to read and write? The bibliographic research method is used through texts on websites, scientific articles, books and documents, among others. With the intention of covering the analysis of the obscurity of the problems found in our bibliographical research, we used qualitative research, which allows us to relate the collected information with the reality and social phenomena of human beings. To achieve the studied objectives, we carried out field research at the Raquel de Castro Ferreira school, where conversations were held with teachers and students, to understand the adversities faced by them, and which enabled the discussion about the experience with the use of Technologies. 

We conclude that using the application within the classroom in a meaningful perspective will promote students' emancipation from new technologies and bring self-confidence and independence, as students will have a new vision of these technological means and will each increasingly learn and seek new learning.
